One of the largest drone attacks targeting Russia’s second-largest city since the beginning of the war has unfolded overnight, as Ukrainian forces reportedly launched a massive wave of long-range drones toward St. Petersburg and surrounding regions, bringing air defenses, airport disruptions, and renewed questions about how far this conflict now stretches beyond the battlefield.
Russian authorities described the operation as one of the most extensive aerial attacks the region has faced, claiming hundreds of drones were intercepted across multiple areas of western Russia. According to official figures released by Moscow, air defense systems engaged large numbers of incoming targets as explosions and anti-aircraft activity were reported across parts of the region.
