Trump feuds with Greene over Epstein file release

The dispute began when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene intensified her push for complete transparency on the Epstein case. She has been campaigning for Congress to force the release of all government-held records, including grand jury material, through what’s known as the Epstein Files Transparency Act. A bipartisan group has backed the move, and Greene has been working behind the scenes to gather the votes needed to bring it to the House floor.

But as her campaign gained momentum, former President Donald Trump came out swinging.
Trump dismissed the effort as politically driven, labeling the Epstein transparency push “a hoax” and accusing Greene of using it for attention. He went further, calling her a “ranting lunatic,” publicly withdrawing his endorsement, and signaling that he may support a primary challenger in her district.

Greene Pushes Back: “A Huge Miscalculation”

Greene responded sharply, calling Trump’s remarks misguided and insisting her efforts are rooted in standing up for Epstein’s victims. She says several survivors have contacted her and expressed their support. According to Greene, she even shared text messages with Trump urging him to “lean in” on transparency messages she claims caused him to lash out.

In her most pointed criticism yet, Greene accused Trump of trying to intimidate other Republicans who have quietly supported releasing the files. She said many GOP members are “afraid to speak up,” worried that they too could become targets of Trump’s anger.

Threats and Safety Concerns Rise

Following Trump’s criticism, Greene says she has received direct threats and online harassment. She claims Trump’s comments have “egged on” extremists and created a dangerous environment for her and her staff. Her office has notified security officials as the attacks continue to grow.

A Deepening Rift in the GOP

This clash marks one of the most dramatic public breaks between Trump and a member of his own political base. Greene has long been one of Trump’s strongest allies on Capitol Hill, backing him during impeachment, defending him on the campaign trail, and promoting many of his political themes.

But the Epstein files have become a dividing line. Trump insists the issue is being weaponized by political opponents, while Greene argues that transparency will restore public trust.

Their disagreement has now spilled into a full-scale feud, with Trump warning he may help recruit a challenger in Georgia’s 14th District and Greene insisting she will not back down.

What Happens Next

With the 2026 election cycle heating up, this internal fight arrives at a critical moment for Republicans. Party leaders worry the split could weaken their messaging as they attempt to unify against Democrats. Meanwhile, Greene’s discharge petition is still gathering signatures, and her camp says more lawmakers are quietly considering joining the push.

Tonight, both sides appear entrenched Trump asserting dominance over the GOP and Greene casting herself as a champion of transparency and victim advocacy.

The battle over the Epstein files has now become more than a legislative fight; it has become a test of loyalty, power, and political courage inside the Republican Party.
