IBC2025 Showcases AI, Cloud, and IP Workflows Driving Media’s Future

IBC2025 Showcases AI

Amsterdam, September 15, 2025 – The curtains have come down on IBC2025, one of the world’s most influential gatherings for media, entertainment, and technology professionals. This year’s event, held in Amsterdam from September 12–15, drew more than 43,800 visitors from 170 countries and over 1,300 exhibitors, all showcasing the future of media technology.

The spotlight at this year’s IBC was firmly on artificial intelligence, cloud-driven solutions, and IP workflows, with industry leaders declaring that the media landscape is entering a new era of transformation.

AI Takes Center Stage

Artificial intelligence dominated conversations, not just as a buzzword but as a working tool. From generative AI to agent-based assistants, exhibitors unveiled systems capable of automating captions, content tagging, translations, and even visual quality control.

Telestream presented its Vantage AI, a platform that automates captions, enriches metadata, and integrates hybrid workflows both in the cloud and on-premises. Meanwhile, the IBC Accelerator Programme showcased projects like “AI Agent Assistants for Live Production,” proving how natural language and voice commands can reshape control room efficiency.

Technology giants such as Microsoft, Avid, and Cisco joined forces to demonstrate AI-powered solutions for content management, search, and audience insights, highlighting how machine learning will soon be embedded across every layer of production.

Cloud & Hybrid Workflows Gain Traction

The shift to the cloud was equally evident. LucidLink impressed with tools that let editors collaborate remotely without downloading massive media files, while Moments Lab offered real-time intelligence for shot-by-shot indexing.

Microsoft’s Edit on Demand platform, powered by Azure, provided a glimpse of the future of post-production, enabling faster turnaround times across distributed teams. Industry experts agreed that hybrid models – blending cloud flexibility with on-premises reliability – will become the dominant choice.

IP Workflows Redefining Broadcasting

Broadcasters are moving away from traditional hardware toward software-defined, IP-based production chains. RED Digital Cinema showcased its Cine-Broadcast Module, supporting SMPTE ST 2110 standards for seamless IP integration, while LiveU revealed its Nexus Gateway, a cloud-native system that bridges multiple IP and streaming protocols.

Industry insiders also pointed to the rise of new interoperability standards such as IPMX and MXL, both designed to prevent vendor lock-in and ensure mixed-system compatibility.

Low Latency and Live Production

With sports and live events driving demand, real-time streaming was another hot topic. Yospace demonstrated sub-five-second latency for ad insertion, while the Accelerator project on “Ultra Low Latency Streaming at Scale” hinted at a future where global live broadcasts may run with less than two seconds of delay.

LiveU also made headlines with its LU900Q unit, combining 5G connectivity and AI-driven decision-making for robust field-to-studio live production.

Sustainability Becomes a Priority

IBC2025 also placed sustainability front and center. The Accelerator project “Ecoflow II” addressed energy consumption in streaming workflows, and award finalists presented eco-friendly UHD upscaling and energy-efficient production lighting.

Closing Observations

IBC2025 made one thing clear: AI, cloud, and IP workflows are no longer experiments – they are industry standards in the making. The push for automation, interoperability, and sustainability signals a media landscape evolving at unprecedented speed.

From powering low-latency sports streaming to enabling AI-driven newsroom automation, the innovations unveiled in Amsterdam are set to shape how billions of viewers consume content worldwide.

As the industry steps into 2026, IBC2025 may well be remembered as the year when the future of media truly arrived.
